Opportunities to Connect with Alumni and Students
In addition to providing career assistance to alumni, including counseling services and workshops, The Center for Career Education encourages alumni to support and develop educational programs and employment opportunities for students as well as other alumni.
Alumni can collaborate with the Center in a myriad of ways, such as:
- volunteering as panelists,
- sharing career stories,
- participating in networking events,
- posting job and internship opportunities,
- creating a profile on Columbia Career Connections,
- providing shadowing and other experiential experiences, or
- serving as a Columbia champion at your organization.
Your help and support is greatly appreciated.

Volunteer
The Center for Career Education hosts several different events, programs, and workshops throughout the year for students as well as alumni, such as career panels (e.g., Careers In Media), workshops on various topics (e.g., Job Search Techniques), mock interviews, and networking receptions. We are always looking for alumni volunteers to share their career and industry expertise with students and other alums during these events. If you are interested in participating, please contact us at careereducation@columbia.edu.
Receive a Columbia Email Address
University Alumni Relations provides all Columbia degree-holders free, lifelong e-mail forwarding.
What is it?
With email forwarding, you can stay @Columbia no matter what Internet service provider you use. Once you enroll, you'll receive a Columbia email address: your UNI and @columbia.edu. You can then direct e-mail sent to that address into whichever inbox you choose. Enroll now.
For recent graduates
After you graduate, your UNI will remain active but your student privileges will be discontinued. About three months after your graduation, you will be able to register for email forwarding. If you have forgotten your password, you can request a password reset using the Help Request Form. You will then be given a PIN that will allow you to create a new password.
For graduates of nondegree programs, Barnard College, and Teachers College
Alumni of these schools are not eligible for alumni email forwarding unless they also hold degrees from other divisions of Columbia University. However, both Barnard and Teachers College have forwarding programs of their own.
