Graduate School of Architecture, Preservation, and Planning

This school develops students’ artistic and intellectual abilities as future urban planning professionals, providing them the knowledge and strategies needed to deal with the challenges of making a modern city. Its 565 students can draw upon New York City’s unsurpassed resources, including its distinguished scholars, historians and practitioners.

Mission

Beyond its specific educational aims, the objectives of the School include basic research in the fields of architecture, planning, and preservation, exchange with other disciplines in the University, and the intensity of experimentation that makes the School part of broader international debates.

Programs

GSAP offers professional degree programs in Architecture, Urban Design, Urban Planning, Historic Preservation, and Real Estate. While most graduates leave the school to practice in these fields, many also pursue careers in related areas such as multimedia design, 3D animation, marketing and consulting.
