
Columbia Arts Experience
Program Description
The Columbia Arts Experience (CAE) internship program is sponsored by Columbia’s Center for Career Education (CCE) in partnership with Columbia University’s Arts Initiative (CUARTS.) The program, which started in the 2007-2008 academic year, provides selected students with a New York-based internship in the arts. Program participants participate in special events and educational programming designed to help students explore career opportunities in the arts.
In which sectors and organizations are internships available?
Spring 2008 employers offered opportunities in following sectors:
- Arts Administration – Alliance for the Arts, IMG Artists, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts
- Architecture – Ishida Crandall
- Dance – New York Ballet, Ballet Hispanico
- Music – Carnegie Hall, Apollo Theater
- New Media – Funny Garbage
- Film/Television – Sundance Channel, Lincoln Center Film
- Theatre – Latino International Theater Fest, Harlem Stage, The Play Company
- Writing/Media/Publishing – Symphony Space
Time Commitment
- Internship: Ten hours a week for ten weeks during the academic semester.
- Program Participation: All students selected for participation
in the program are required to participate in program orientation and
subsequent programming.
- Students spend up to an additional four hours per month participating in pre-professional and arts-related programming.
Who is Eligible?
- Full-time undergraduate students at Columbia College, the Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science or School of General Studies, in their sophomore, junior, or senior year.
How do I apply?
Participants have already been selected for the Spring 2008 program. This program will be offered during the 2008-2009 academic year; additional information and application details for next academic year will be released in February 2008.
Application Requirements: Resume, cover letter, and transcript. You will also be asked to answer brief questions about your interest and involvement in the arts as part of the application process. All positions are posted via InterviewTrak.
