PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Columbia University Internship (CU IN) California Program offers undergraduate students high-quality internship experiences in a diverse array of industries in Los Angeles and San Francisco through alumni and employer partnerships. These industries will include fields such as finance, the not-for-profit sector, technology, the arts, communications, media and start-ups.

Through living and working in California as an intern, you have the opportunity to:

  • Explore a career field and develop your professional skills

  • Gain valuable work experience in a different part of the country

  • Network with alumni and employers within a global Columbia network

  • Immerse yourself in a West Coast culture and enjoy all it has to offer with other Columbia students

PROGRAM COMPONENTS

  • 8-week internship

  • Pre-departure training including professional skills training and program logistics overview

  • Recommended Housing

  • Financial Support for travel (in selected cases)

  • Alumni Club mentor

  • Social and networking events with Alumni Club

  • Professional development program with alumni and employers in diverse range of industries.

 

PROGRAM APPLICATION PROCESS

  • October 2008, November 2008, December 2008 - On-Campus Information Sessions at Columbia University about the program.

  • January 2009 - Application deadline for all students to apply to the program through LionSHARE.

  • Late January 2009 - Early February 2009 - First round interviews with employer.

  • February 2009 - Final round interviews with employers (in person, phone, or video/teleconference).

  • February 2009 - March 2009 - Offers made to students.

  • March 2009 - Decisions will be given with regards to financial assistance for the program.

  • April 2009 - Students will participate in pre-departure training activities at CCE.
