Dossier Service Overview

Since September 2007, dossier services for Columbia students (also called "credentials services") have been provided through a partnership between the Center for Career Education and Interfolio, Inc., an on-line, confidential credentials file management service ("Interfolio").

Interfolio maintains individual files containing letters of recommendation for Graduate students and alumni of the following schools:

  • Graduate School of Arts and Sciences
  • School of the Arts
  • Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation
  • School of Continuing Education
  • The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science

Undergraduate students and alumni of the School of General Studies are also eligible to use the Dossier Service.

Undergraduate students and alumni of Columbia College and The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science can contact the Center for Student Advising at 212-854-8711 to inquire about creating a dossier. The forms to open a dossier account can be found at http://www.studentaffairs.columbia.edu/csa/forms/dossier_packet.pdf.

Undergraduate students and alumni of Columbia College and The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science who are interested in applying to medical or law school can contact the Office of Pre-Professional Advising at 212-854-8722 or preprofessional@columbia.edu to create a dossier.

Interfolio forwards designated dossier files in connection with applications for opportunities in colleges, universities, independent schools, and industry. We recommend that individuals planning to apply for positions register on-line with Interfolio and open a dossier file at least 18 months prior to their anticipated availability for a position. The Center for Career Education supports users of Interfolio with dedicated personnel.
